Let The Son Melt Your Sin, Like The Sun Melts The Snow

Due to the Blizzard of 2016, we were unable to assemble at Canaan's Faith Church of God today (January 24, 2016) like we usually do on Sundays. Therefore we had "church" service at home in our living room. We started out by reading from Hebrews 12:1-2 which is partially discussed on our blog here, but today we elaborated on it with using #Blizzard2016 as a discussion point.

The Truth Shall Make You Free

Telling the truth is something that is a struggle sometimes. According to a 2002 study conducted by a University of Massachusetts psychologist, it was determined "that 60 percent of people lied at least once during a 10-minute conversation and told an average of two to three lies." Many people lie for different reasons and some do not even think anything of it when they are doing it. It just comes "natural" to them. However as a Christian, we must be very aware of this and realize that lying does not really come "natural" but rather "supernatural". One may ask, "How is this the case?"

From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad - Part 8: A New Calling

I certainly did not plan on taking off for over a month from blogging, however we have been very busy moving. Now that we are settling into our new home, I realized I need to complete this blog series. In the previous parts to this series I have basically shared most of my testimony in becoming a Christian, a husband, and a father (and I encourage you to read the entire From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad series - Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, Part 4, Part 5, Part 6, and Part 7). Since becoming a Christian, my life has been directed by my Lord Jesus Christ through His Father's Holy Spirit. The Bible says the Holy Spirit will teach you all things (John 14:26) and sure enough the Holy Spirit has taught me a lot about myself, others, and life in general. One of the many things I am very thankful for is that the Holy Spirit taught me what is most important in life.

From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad - Part 7: Striving Together

In part 6 of this series, I shared about my wife Colleen being my help meet. From that standpoint, God has truly blessed me. Colleen has fulfilled and continues to fulfill the position God intended for her in our family. Her willingness to submit to the Lord, rise up and be a Godly wife and mother is not an easy task I admit, but it is a blessing as she would share if asked. Actually, her walk with the Lord which has made her what she is today started just a few weeks before we got married.

From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad - Part 6: My Help Meet

As you saw in Part 5 of this blog series, God has blessed me with four beautiful children. These children could not have made it into this world though without my wife, Colleen. Having just celebrated Mother's Day, I shared with my children that very fact. The Bible says to honor your father and mother (Ephesians 6:2) and we were spending an entire day thanking Mommy for all she does for us. I told my children that they wouldn't even be here in this world had not their Mommy carried them for nine long months. However before Colleen labored four children into this world, she first became my help meet.

From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad - Part 5: The Five Year Plan

The previous four blog posts (Part 1, Part 2, Part 3, and Part 4) described my journey to salvation from my sins and the process of the Holy Spirit working in my life to make me acceptable before God. From 2002 to present, God was (and still is) preparing my heart and life to provide for a family with children. He blessed me with a beautiful wife (on the inside and outside) that has always stood with me in the good and bad moments of life. When we got married in 2003, we decided to wait at least five years to have children. Why five years?

From Homecoming King, To Homeschooling Dad - Part 4: Growing in Grace and Knowledge

In Part 3 of this series, I briefly talked about the New Life I received in Jesus Christ. Most importantly, through God's Word He showed me that in order to be a Christian, I must not sin (see John 5:14 and John 8:11). This can be accomplished by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit which comes after justification or repentance of sins. During this series I plan to talk about how after receiving the New Life that only Jesus Christ can provide, I began to grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ (2 Peter 3:18) which takes place through a process called sanctification.
